Mary Gayford

Mary is a music therapist and psychotherapist working privately and in the NHS. She has worked for SMA as harp teacher since 2018, and is currently safeguarding trustee.

Born in Suffolk, Mary studied the harp, playing in Suffolk, Norfolk, and Kent Youth Orchestras. She went on to read Music at St Peter’s College, Oxford and then trained as a music therapist at the Guildhall School of Music. She is also a fellow of the School for Social Entrepreneurs, which enabled her to establish a social enterprise providing singing for lung health classes for those with lung disease.

Mary lives in London with her husband Chris, who teaches at SMA and conducts CSYO, and their two small children. They all love coming to Sheffield whenever they can to be part of the musical life of SMA!
