Our core team of administrative staff are the small, powerful motor behind Sheffield Music Academy, ensuring that it runs efficiently and flawlessly. Based in our Psalter Lane offices, they deal with all aspects of the academy, from parent enquiries and timetabling to safeguarding and concert organisation.

General Manager
Matt Wigley
​
Matt grew up in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, before moving to the University of Nottingham to study music. Immersed in a musical world, Matt found his passion for a career in music. After completing an internship at the University of Birmingham, Matt moved to Suffolk to coordinate the Centre for Advanced Training Aldeburgh Young Musicians at Snape Maltings, ultimately progressing to Programme Manager. Matt then moved to the Glasshouse/Sage Gateshead as Head of Young People’s programme, leading Sage Gateshead’s plethora of education, community and engagement work, including the CAT. He then acted as Senior Producer, Make Music, at Sage Gateshead, until July 2023. Matt is delighted to continue his journey at Sheffield Music Academy - bringing experience, passion and vision.

Katie Palmer​
As an alumnus of both SMA and (more recently) CSYO, Katie is very excited to be returning to Sheffield's bustling music scene . After leaving SMA in 2021, Katie went on to to study an undergraduate degree in Music at King's College London, where she also studied violin with teachers from the Royal Academy of Music. During her degree, Katie developed specific interests in Opera, Music Business and performing with her Piano Trio. Taking on her first permanent role since graduating in Summer 2024, Katie is delighted to be working with the SMA team once more and is eager to unite her enthusiasm for the organisation and her love for the city in this role.
